My legal journey began in Paramaribo, where a student post with the Government of Suriname taught me that the law is first and foremost a public service. I sharpened that insight at the Netherlands’ Ministry of Justice, then tested it in the private arena—advising clients at what was then one of the Big Five professional-services firms and soon partnering in a medium sized Curaçao law office. Each chapter added a new club to the bag: public-sector perspective and discipline, and top-tier commercial strategy.
